Curriculum:
“My First Look” is the curriculum we teach in The Cove. It combines interactive elements that touch each of their five senses by keeping them involved in creative activities.
Each teaching session begins with an activity that introduces the children to the day’s topic and helps them feel welcome and comfortable in their classroom. Ages 2 through five are taken to “The Lighthouse” for a large group time that includes a Bible Story and worship. They then take part in activities in their rooms that help them apply what they have learned and finally come together in a small group time where they begin to understand that they can talk to God anytime, anyplace.
 
Snacks:
Snacks are provided for the children once they are in our Creepers class and they consist of water, cheerios and saltines. In the twos and up our teachers sometimes make a snack that goes along with the weekly lesson and they will post the items to be served on an “Allergy Alert” sign on the outside of the door. If your child has an allergy, please inform the leader when you check in your child.

Check – In & Security Process for all Preschoolers:
A leader will meet you at the classroom door to receive your child and their items. You will be asked to sign in your child and note any information that will help in caring for them, ex: feeding times, sleeping times, allergies and special needs and the location of where you will be. Security tags are utilized in our baby through five year old classes. You will be given a tag with a number that may be attached to your clothing. This number will serve as a means to contact you during our worship services. There are 2 display monitors located on each side of the stage in our worship center that will display your child’s security code. If your child’s number appears on the monitor, please return to the room where you dropped him or her off. On your return to their room you will be asked to show the tag you were given to be able to attend to your child. We recommend that parents bring a well equipped diaper bag for infants through two year olds, and a complete change of clothes, each item well labeled with your child’s first and last name.

Pick up procedures:
Your child’s leader will expect the same person to drop off and pick up each child unless special instructions are given at check-in. Under no circumstance may a child be released to an adult without a security tag corresponding with the sign-in sheet!
